About Your Host

Carl Thornton, Jr.

 

Since childhood, Carl has had a passion for diversity which has lead him to embrace people of all races, ethnicities, both genders... His desire is to continue to cultivate his capacity to understand the challenges we face as humans and help people become more comfortable embracing themselves and others.

Experience

  • Liberal Arts degree from Mercer University

  • Has worked in retail and retail management

  • Has worked as a hospital social worker

  • Oversaw the successful startup of a hospital gift shop and managed the operation

  • Worked with teens and their families in two facilities: a psychiatric hospital for teens and an alcohol and drug treatment facility for adjudicated youth

  • Created MCG’s Midday Melodies, a program that featured musical talent ranging from local middle school bands to Augusta Symphony quartets to renowned jazz trombonist, Wycliffe Gordon

  • Created and hosted his own talk show, “Speaking With…” in 2005. The program was praised for being relevant, informative, and inspiring.
